Spring 2021!!!

mark

Grandma and Grandpa came by and visited Claire for her birthday:

Callum hunting for Easter eggs (we didn't get many pictures of the others—they were zipping around too fast...):

A whole Cadbury caramel egg is too much for a small boy's ambitious mouth:

Wants to do the things his big brother does:

Enjoying a day warm enough for a picnic:

Mark found her here in the morning when he was leaving for work. Who knows. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe she got too tired on her way to finding us in the middle of the night:

We pretty much missed the annual Rose Springs Color Run, but they still had fun throwing chalk at each other in the vicinity of where everything went down:

Visit out to Promontory Point on a weekend stay with Grandma and Grandpa Lewis:

Waiting for the show to start:

Trains are LOUD:

At the Spiral Jetty:

Art is for climbing:

Playing the next day at Grandma and Grandpa's:

That's a banana in her left hand:

After dinner, Mark, Grandpa, and Claire decided to take a sunset jaunt up to "the B." The sunset did NOT disappoint (and those are just phone pics!):

Not sure when this was, but it was a cute shot of the biggest and the smallest:

Stacked up all of the book boxes next to herself for a serious reading session:

The tallest Magnetile structure ever created:

On the road between the radio towers at the top of Farnsworth Peak in the Oquirrh Mountains:

Our end of Stansbury down below. You can see Soelbergs and the lake. One of those vague dots ins our house:

On a day Cally wasn't feeling so good. Cuddled a Claire until he was out cold and Claire was stuck C.O.L.:

Because we were going to be gone vacationing on Mark's birthday week in June, we celebrated early. Here are Elly and Cal waiting to give Mark two of his presents:

Then we took a family hike up to Butterfield Peak in Middle Canyon here in Tooele:

Happy hikers:

Taking a rest against a tree:

Working her way up to the ridge to see the awesome view of Lowe Peak:

Max and Claire arriving at the overlook. The tallest peak in the Oquirrhs (and one of Utah's 8 "Ultra" peaks) is second from the left edge of the frame—Flat Top Mountain. Lowe Peak is the tall one closer to center.

Lowe Peak (this one is in Mark's book to do someday soon):

A helpful rock was happy to hold the camera for a family portrait:

At the large cairn on top of Butterfield Peak:

After the hike, we drove down the other side of the mountain into Herriman to have lunch at In-N-Out. And, in honor of Mark's birthday, none of the children complained about it!

That night, Amanda and Mark got a babysitter and went to the White Horse for dinner. Roast cauliflower with creme fraiche and buffalo sauce (excellent):

Niciose salad with seared tuna (only okay, unfortunately):

Roast duck with sour cherries (EXCELLENT). Forgot to take a picture until we'd already eaten most of it:

A double rainbow to top off the celebration while getting ice cream:

The following week, Mark had a region golf tournament and some of the non-golfers decided to hike to the summit of Grandeur Peak instead. Dave Douglas on the left and Kyle Anderson on the right. Both are on Mark's current faculty:

Just a cool tree:

Views were great!

An interesting, hazy day:

Glory shots:

That's it for Spring! We left for Oregon and Washington a couple of days later...
